There are 8 different ways to move your domains and records over to Constellix. We’re going to break them down into two different categories, to help you determine which method is best for you. First, we will show you how to import domains using a variety of methods. We recommend importing records if you are coming from another DNS provider, or if you don’t have complex record configurations. We will then show you the ways to manually add records and domains. These methods are better for users who have custom or complicated configurations.
Third Party Import
If you have API functionality from your previous provider, you can use this method to import your domain and record configurations seamlessly. Please keep in mind, this method does not migrate your services (ie: Failover, Global Traffic Director, etc). We currently only offer this feature for DNS Made Easy and Amazon Route 53 users. This technique is great for users who want to migrate many different domains at once, as once you have entered your API key, you can select all or individual domains to be migrated.
New Domain Wizard
You can also use the New Domain Wizard, a tool we designed to easily guide users through the process of adding domains to their accounts. Once you have entered your domain name, you will choose Option 1 to scan your records. Please note, this method will not import all of your records. Rather, it will scan for the most popular hostname records types (ie: mail, txt, etc). We do not recommend this method if you have complex record configurations, as it will not pick up all of the records your domain may have.
Import through AXFR
Import through an AXFR Transfer
Import through Zone File
Import from a Zone File
New Domain Wizard
If you have more complex configurations, or if option one of the New Domain Wizard does not detect all of your records, we recommend using this method. Keep in mind, this is not an import tool; instead, it is a way to manually add domains. The wizard will guide you through four steps to add your domains, third party services, mail servers, SPF records, and more.
Manually Add Records
The final method is the most straightforward and allows for the most customizability. Once you have added your domains, click on the link for your domain. You will see a screen that shows the available record types. Here you can manually add whatever records you want, apply advanced configurations, record modes, etc.
